"Bro Code"

Perhaps they are discussing the "bro code"

Last Saturday we were eating lunch together.  Brad poured himself a beer and left the bottle sitting on the table.  While I was waiting for Mike to finish his "noo-nles" (noodles) I picked up the bottle and started blowing across the top...you know like a flute.  Apparently this was not ok with Mike.  He quickly pointed at me and sharply told me "no Mommy, daddy's beer."  I explained to him that the bottle was empty, daddy's beer was in a cup and I was just using the bottle to make music.  This did NOT appease him.  As I picked the bottle up again, he got a little more bossy (no idea where that comes from) and yelled "NO Mommy" while reaching across the table, grabbing the bottle from me and placing it next to Brad while saying "here daddy."  Finding this whole situation hilarious I started laughing.  Apparently Mike thought that was inappropriate too because he started pointing his little finger at me and saying over and over "Mommy NOT funny."  Brad looked at me, cracked a smile and smugly said "what, he is 2 and already has the 'bro code' down."  Guess I learned my lesson.

Nesting?

This past weekend I cleaned the nursery (since Mike is now in his "big boy room"), washed and put away all the baby clothes, cleaned my room, scrubbed the bassinet and cooked like a mad person (including the lovely bread shown above).  Raised their eyebrows and uttered the word "nesting."  I think both my mom and my boss will have a conniption fit if I have this baby any earlier than the end of January.  My mom, because she wants more than anything to be here (she flies in on Jan 27) and my boss because it is year end and things are CRAZY.  I guess time will tell.  I'm pretty sure with Mike I went through a nesting phase about two weeks before he was born.  Any guesses on when baby #2 will be arriving?

Things to Remember: Love

Mike told me he loved me for the first time this morning.  As soon as I got him out of bed I asked him how he slept, gave him a big hug and told him I loved him.  He replied with "luv too, mommy" - heart-melting?  I think so.  And to be certain it wasn't just a fluke, when I was carrying him into daycare this morning I told him I loved him again, and he replied "Michael love mommy too."  Awwwwwww.

Busy

Thank goodness for technology.  After 2 hours in a hospital waiting room (while great grandpa was having some tests done) Mike happily climbed onto "Bompa's" lap and caught up on his favorite "moo-mie" Gnomeo and Juliet on my Kindle Fire (which is awesome by the way).

Things around here have been really busy lately - which I'm going to blame for my lack of blogging the past few weeks.  My parents drove out from Wyoming for Christmas, after 5 fun filled days of hiking, the zoo, Christmas, and loving on an adorable grandson, we drove up to Wisconsin to spend some time with my grandpa who is having some health issues.  My sister flew in from Colorado and spent the week with us then drove back to St. Louis with me to fly home (people were a little worried about my driving 6 hours alone with a toddler being almost 35 weeks pregnant).  After I got back from Wisconsin we had some friends stay with us for a day or so.  Now I am back at work in my new role (manager of internal financial reporting) and gearing up for year end reporting.  Oh yeah, and baby #2 will be here in about a month.  I'm hoping to update things around here regularly, but please bear with me if I seem absent.
