On the eve of his first birthday, I would like to share some of my favorite pictures of Ryan.

Someone learned how to climb the stairs over the weekend.

Glimpses into my life: Saturday afternoon walk

Sam needed a walk so I bundled up the boys. Mike declared that he wanted to ride in the wagon - so the wagon it was. Mike demands to ride facing forward every time so Ryan faces backwards. After about 4 blocks the boys both start giggling like crazy. After nearly a full minute of continuous giggling I stop the wagon to see what is going on. I turn to see Mike waving puppet style at Ryan, Ryan giggling then imitating the wave back at Mike - over and over again.

I really love how much they enjoy each other.

Baby steps

2 little steps. Ryan finally let go and took his first unassisted steps. Then he did it again and took 3 steps. He will be running in no time!

Things Mike says: Science

Mike - "Daddy, how come straw looks bigger in the water?"
Brad- "IS it bigger, or does it just LOOK bigger?"
Mike - "it just looks bigger. Why?"
Brad - "Science. I love you smart boy"

Things Mike says

While talking about eating things:
Mike: ...and then I ate the noodles and the broccoli and the chairs and the house.

Me: oh no!! You ate the house?!?! Where are we going to live if you ate the house?

Mike: At grandpa and grandpa's house.

Things Mike says

This morning I asked Mike to put his shoes one he grabbed them and then asked me to help him. I told him to sit on my lap. As soon as he sat down he happily said "Mommy you are so cozy, just like the couch."

Glimpses into my life: Hide and seek

Mike asks to play hide and seek. I am folding laundry but agree anyway. I slowly start counting to 10 and he scampers off to hide. I find him hiding under the table and he directs me to hide behind the chair in the living room. I try to explain (again) that isn't how the game works. I give up, he starts counting and I scoop up Ryan and go hide behind the bathroom door. Ryan babbles, claps and shakes the door as Mike searches for us. He keeps grabbing the edge of the door and peeking out totally giving away our spot. Mike runs by three times before he notices and loudly proclaims "found you"!!!

Remix

Mike just composed a remix of Mary Had a Little Lamb, Bingo and Jingle Bells. I never realized how seamlessly those songs can go together.

Glimpses into my life - dinner time

The boys are still eating dinner. Brad isn't home and I'm tidying up the kitchen while they finish. As I'm putting away the leftovers I hear a flurry of giggles from the dining room. I turn around to see Mike tickling Ryan's legs while they both giggle. This sure is a good gig.
