Oh how I love this little guy.  I can't get enough of those chubby cheeks.  I especially love his little eyebrow dimple (best demonstrated in the last picture).

I go back to work today which means I don't get to spend all my time with these little cuties anymore.  It is going to be a rough week.

Hungry Mouse

A few days ago Mike informed me that Mickey (Mouse) was hungry.  I asked him if he was going to give Mickey something to eat.  His answer was lifting up his shirt to nurse Mickey.  Might have just been the cutest thing ever.

Easter 2012

This post is only a week or so late, but better late than never, right?  Easter started bright and early with a visit from Knufflebunny.  Mike couldn't quite grasp the concept of the Easter bunny, but is a huge fan of Knufflebunny, so he was convinced that Knufflebunny had delivered the baskets.  

After exploring the goodies in the baskets, it was time to go outside to see if the Easter Bunny Knufflebunny had left any eggs.  Mike hit the jackpot and found a yard full of eggs!

 After we used the eggs Mike found to make breakfast we headed out to the playground to let Mike burn off some of his jellybean energy.

After Mike tried to escape (we came downstairs to find the front door open and him playing in the front yard along) Brad took him on a little walk to explain why he can't go outside alone.  I think Mike payed more attention to holding my umbrella than listening to Brad.  We finished the day with a delicious Easter dinner with friends.

Kentucky Recap

Onto a recap of our adventures. We left Sunday morning and headed to southern Illinois to visit the Gillman family. After a nice lunch and letting Mike run around it was on toward Indiana where our trip was quickly brought to a halt due to HORRIBLE traffic. It took us over 2 hours to go 20 miles. We eventually got up to speed and stopped at a hotel in a random town in Indiana. We had to carry Mike kicking and screaming from the hotel pool after his fingers started to look like raisins. Monday morning we took a quick trip to Lincoln State Park then were on our way to Kentucky. After arriving at the wrong cabin (wrong directions) we made our way to the Wildcat cabin and happily settled in. The rest of the week was pretty uneventful. We spent our time exploring the Daniel Boone national forest by visiting Grey's Arch, Tower Rock, Rock Bridge Arch, Whistling Arch and Chimney Rock. Brad tried his luck at fishing and was really upset that he had left his fly rod at home. Mike adamantly refused to nap so he would generally fall asleep in the car between hikes and crash at night. For my birthday dinner we found a small mom and pop pizza place in a town about 30 miles from our cabin then celebrated with a My Little Pony cake back at the cabin. Ryan was an angel (per usual) the entire week and would pass out as soon as I put him in the pouch carrier for our hikes.

The car was packed and we were ready to go.  Sam was making sure we didn't forget her.

Kentucky...wait, what???

Last week we were gone on vacation...to Kentucky.  Yes you read that correctly.  We vacationed in the bluegrass state.  No we do not have family there (apparently that is one of the few acceptable reasons why someone would chose Kentucky for a vacation destination).  Even our credit card company found our vacation plans suspicious which was proven when they put a block on our credit card the second we bought something in the state (imagine standing at a small town Wal-Mart having the teenage check out girl tell you your credit card has been declined then mis-key the PIN for your debit card and have it declined, then have your husband try the same credit card you did and have it be declined again...at 9PM, with two grumpy kids...good times) We rented a "cabin" (by cabin I mean beautiful house with satellite TV and a hot tub) in the Red River Gorge area and spent a week relaxing and hiking.  It was wonderful.  I felt a little sad as we watched our cabin disappear into the rear view mirror on Friday morning knowing that the real world was waiting for us.  We are already thinking about which obscure state we will visit next - maybe Arkansas...I hear it is beautiful.  I will recap the trip in more detail over the next few days.  For now, here is a picture of our happily little family:
