Thursday Night

Over the past 3+ years I've noticed that our evening routine has become a bit...predictable.  That isn't bad at all, it just follows a routine.  I pick the boys up, cook dinner (usually while Mike watches a show on TV and Ryan tells me how mad he is every time I set him down), the dinner an hour or so of playing, baths and bed for the boys.
Someone is a fan of pepperoni.  He would cry everytime he ran out.  In case you are wondering I made pizzas for dinner last night.  I generally don't just feed my children pepperoni on a whim.

This is the end of our snow man.  Mike ran into the yard when we got home and started kicking the snow and yellow "KA-Pow!"

This kept him entertained for almost as long as it took me to take this picture.  Also - there is a good chance these bowls are still on the kitchen floor.

The slide was a success - though I had to lift his feet up for him otherwise he VERY slowly slid down as his s hoes screeched on the plastic.

First haircut

Ryan got his first haircut today. Brad declared that it was time for the mullet to go. I'm holding strong that there was no mullet, just some curls.

A roundup

If you lived inside of my phone, here is what life would have looked like to you lately:

Mike and Ryan share a big cup of ice cream.  Ryan finally has the right motivation to figure out how to use a spoon.

Mike gets a new (to us) scooter.  Ryan insists on holding the leash every time we walk Sammy - when he drops it, he yells until we give it back to him.

Brad thinks Ryan has a mullet and keeps threatening to cut his hair.

Mike is doing awesome at swimming lessons and learned how to float all by himself last week.

Ryan likes to hide under the coffee table and stalk kitty...

...occasionally he is successful.

I cut 6+ inches off my hair and no one has noticed.

Ryan thinks Brad makes an excellent mattress.

We went to a birthday party at the Magic House and Ryan threw a fit until I let him sit next to Mike.  Later, he tried to eat one of the blotters.

Ryan is ready to get to work.

Lucky guy

Ryan is lucky to have the brother he does. We decided to go out for frozen yogurt tonight. When we asked Mike if he wanted to go he replied "YES! And I can share mine with Ryan!"

Castlewood State Park

After weeks of mediocre or cold weather the highs were forecasted to jump into the 60s today. Mike had swimming lessons and Brad had a mandatory lecture but we decided to make it a point to get outside and take advantage of the warm weather. Things weren't looking great this morning when it was pouring down rain but by mid-afternoon the skies were clear.

We loaded everyone into the car and met some friends at Castlewood State Park. After a nice hike - complete with Mike tromping through approximately 90% of the big, muddy puddles we encountered - we made our way down to the beach of the Missouri River and let the dogs run and swim and the boys play. Long story short - I think the beach vacation we are planning is going to be quite popular with the boys 😄.

Bad blogger

I know - I have been terrible about updating this blog lately. It isn't that we haven't been doing things, I just haven't been taking many pictures and a blog post with out a picture is like a kiss without a squeeze, peanut butter without jelly, a road trip without music, summer without watermelon - I think you get the idea. So because I have no great pictures I have been slacking on posting things.

So here are a few pictures of a normal Thursday night:

You can make a car out of anything

The story goes that my sister used to push me around in a diaper box. When she was feeling a little vengeful she would push me off a step. I'm sure she would claim it was a character building experience for my young self.

Mike likes to push Ryan around in boxes too. Luckily there are no easily accessible drop-offs on the first floor of our house.
