Ryan is a baby of very few words. He "talks" plenty, but he just doesn't have many distinguishable words yet. The only four up until last weekend were mama, up, uht-oh and dada. However, last weekend he decided to pull out all the stops and added "Thank you" to the mix. The first time he said it I thought it was a fluke, but as time went on we realized not only is he saying it, but he also tends to use it appropriately. At daycare he was even handing his teachers books just so they would hand them back so he could say Thank you. Such a polite baby.

Snow Day
It happened again. A storm was predicted for St. Louis and the entire city started freaking out. Schools were closed well before the first snowflake ever flew. My office closed early and daycare was set to close early this afternoon. Amazingly the weathermen got it right this time. The roads were already surprisingly slippery as I headed home and things just got worse from there. We ended up with about 5 inches of snow then the method of precipitation changed to freezing rain. The upside was I got to spend a nice snow day with the boys making cookies, playing in the snow and just hanging out.

Ryan the Mountain Goat
Ryan has recently learned to climb. He thinks it is pretty much the best thing ever. The dismount is still a little tricky, but I'm sure with time he will learn to master that as well.

Things Mike says: dinner and dessert
Tonight while we were eating dinner Mike finished all of his food and we had the following conversation:
Mike: mommy my belly is full full. I'm all done.
Me: Oh, I guess that means you are too full for dessert.
Mike: No, NO! I have plenty of room right here (pointing to a spot on his belly)
Then while eating dessert:
Mike: mommy, ice cream is a good snack. It has milk in it so it is good for us.
Seems like sound logic to me!

Things Mike says
Tonight we tried a new restaurant. Mike was flirting with the women at the table behind us and they proceeded to have the following conversation:
Lady: is this your favorite restaurant?
Mike: No!
Lady: what is your favorite restaurant? McDonalds?
Mike: (silence)
Me: Mike, they asked you a question - what is your favorite restaurant?
Mike: you, mommy!!
Glad to know my cooking is so well received by my three year old.

Catch Up
Wow, it has been a rough month or so for the old blog. Year end reporting requirements have kept me especially busy at work, and our perpetually busy schedule and sick kids have keep my busy as home. So here is a quick run down of what has been going on lately.
1) Ryan turned 1. I can hardly believe it. We win the award for worst parents ever due to the fact that we cancelled his birthday party. Yep you read that correctly. He was sick the week leading up to the party, hardly anyone was able to make it and Mike was on the verge of getting sick also so we cancelled it. He still got his very own cake to smash and lots of presents so he wasn't too upset about it. We also had his one year well baby visit. He is growing just as he should. He weighed in at 23 lbs 2 oz and is 29.5 inches tall. He is finally getting the hang of walking and now often prefers walking places over crawling.
2) Brad and I got free tickets to a 3 Doors Down and Daughtry concert and took advantage of a semi-paid for date night (we luckily found a last minute baby sitter). 3 Doors Down was surprisingly awesome. Perhaps one of the best sounding live bands we have ever seen. Daughtry was a little too full of himself. We left (along with a lot of other people) about 3 songs into his set.
3) Tracy Foo came to visit - which was awesome. She won Mike over again and he still hasn't stopped talking about her.
4) It finally snowed a few inches here, unfortunately Mike was sick and wanted nothing to do with it. I eventually convinced him we should go play and he loved it for 30 minutes until he was D.U.N done.
