Happy Birthday Mom (a day late)
Happy Birthday Mom! Sorry it is a day late (to be fair I did call her at 6:30am yesterday so I'm just a blog slacker for birthday wishes).

Sitting
Ok, I am aware that it is abundantly clear that I am a new mom and brag about all the wonderful things my little man can do (hey to be fair I include the not so great things too...remember the spit up post???). Anyway, so here is what Mike is getting good at today: Sitting up, in the tripod pose. And no, he can't hold it for long before he face plants, but he can holder longer than he did last week, or even yesterday. So that's something to be proud of. A little visual proof:
Also, I learned today that the spit up thing is compliments of daddy. Apparently Brad spit up like crazy until he was a YEAR old. Only seven more months to go, then maybe my washing machine won't hate me so much.

You know you're a mom when...
So I picked this up from some other blog I read occasionally and thought it was a fun idea. I'll try to have a new one each Wednesday (I heard somewhere that people like it when you consistently update your blog, guess it gives them something to look forward to). Anyway, so for this week here is my "you know you're a mom when..."

See that white stuff on my chest...yep, spit up. Mike has it all down his front too. This picture really doesn't do justice to the quantity, but you get the idea.
You know you are a mom when you get spit up on multiple times EVERY SINGLE DAY and don't mind, in fact you plan things around it. I literally either a) walk around shirtless until Mike is safely strapped into his car seat each morning (makes it much harder for him to get me if he is strapped into his seat) or b) wear a raincoat until he is strapped in. This may seem a bit silly but I have had to change my complete outfit more than once when I was already running late for work.
No one really seems to understand when I tell them "he spits up... A LOT." They look at me and smile like they know what I'm talking about and nod a little bit and put their arms out to hold my darling little boy. Sometimes they are lucky and decides to keep his lunch in. Usually, however, after a few minutes, they give me a shocked looked (something akin to "what in the hell is wrong with this baby and why am I suddenly covered in milk"). I kindly explain once again that "he spits up a lot" while handing them a towel to clean up with.
I read in multiple places that most babies stop spitting up by 4 months. We are rounding out 5 and he shows no signs of stopping. It has gotten better however. And for the worriers out there: we have discussed this with his pediatrician multiple times. His doctor is not concerned because a) Mike is still gaining plenty of weight and b) it doesn't bother Mike at all. I think my favorite quote on this subject is "is isn't a medical problem, it's a laundry problem." My washing machine couldn't agree more.

Monday Picture: Bat
Take me out to the ball game
Today was Mike's first professional sporting event. Peabody has a suite at Busch Stadium and once or twice a season my group gets the box. This was one such lucky Sunday. Mike seemed to enjoy the entire experience except for when Freese hit a home run. I think the noise and cannons were just a little too much for him. Everyone was cheering and I look down to see his woo lip out in full force and tears starting to stream down his little face. Brad quickly handed him over and he clung to me like velcro. Luckily he was quickly back to his normal happy self. Here are a few pictures of the day.

The whole family!
Meet Gil, Goldie and Agoo
Brad always says that our little family consists of himself, me, Mike and Sammy. He equates the cat to an "antisocial roommate that comes out to eat." Well good news for Allie, she is no longer at the bottom of the hierarchy. However, I now wonder where our three new friends fall. Meet Gill, Goldie and Agoo. The trio of goldfish we impulse bought for Mike last night (we each got to name one...guess who named who) . What can I say the kid loves to watch fish and goldfish are easy (however after the 10 minute lecture the pet store girl gave us about goldfish you would think we were getting a new puppy...seriously they are goldfish...GOLDFISH...if it dies I will flush it and spend another 20 cents on a new one). Gill is the silver and white one. Agoo and Goldie are pretty much interchangeable and are the gold ones. We have decided that Agoo and Goldie are "Gill's ladies." Yes, perhaps we put too much thought into the goldfish, but whatever, it was fun.
